Chelsea fans are all saying the same thing as Lampard says: ‘I need to think about my job’ after ousting the star

CHELSEA fans have fumed at caretaker manager Frank Lampard after he made comments about young star Carney Chukwuemeka.

The Blues have lost seven of their nine games since the Blues’ record goalscorer replaced Graham Potter in early April.

The latest of these was another poor performance on Sunday as Manchester City celebrated winning the Premier League title with a comfortable 1-0 win at the Etihad.

This puts Chelsea in 12th place with two tough games ahead of them against Manchester United and Newcastle.

Given the circumstances, Blues fans were baffled as to why talented 19-year-old midfielder Chukwuemeka was on the bench until the 81st minute.

Earlier this week, Chelsea refused to release him for the England Under-20 World Cup squad as it conflicted with the end of the domestic season.

When asked if he should only use him in the final stages, Lampard, who will only be in charge until Mauricio Pochettino takes office in the summer, said: “You have to wait and see.”

“I want to give him minutes, but I have to think about my job. I thought he did well when he came on.”

This is not a reaction that Chelsea fans took kindly.

Taking to social media, one said: “😭 What a job. That’s exactly what I was worried about. He’s busy highlighting results that make him look better than actually developing the team for next season.”

Another added: “Job? 7 defeats, 1 draw and 1 win since he took charge of the club. What job are we talking about here?”

A third replied: “Think about my job 😂😂😂😂 You’ve practically lost every playmate this guy isn’t serious.”

And a fourth replied: “Damn, he has no self-esteem at all.”

Chukwuemeka’s replacement at the Etihad was his first minute since Lampard’s return to Chelsea.

He was not included in Lampard’s previous eight squads.

The teenager, who signed a six-year deal from Aston Villa in the summer, has made 13 appearances for the Blues this season.
