REAL MADRID have officially signed Antonio Rüdiger from Chelsea on a free transfer.
The Germany international’s contract with the Blues, who want to keep his services, expired this month.
European powerhouses Real began snooping on the centre-back in January when it emerged he would not sign a new contract and had acted quickly to sign her man.
An excerpt from a Chelsea statement read: “We bid farewell to Antonio Rudiger as he leaves Stamford Bridge with his Chelsea contract expiring, bringing his five trophy-filled years to a close at the club.
“The German defender has left the Blues to join Real Madrid after being a big part of our successes in recent years.
“Rudiger won the FA Cup, Champions League, Europa League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup with Chelsea and played a crucial role in all of those triumphs at the heart of our defence.”
29-year-old Rüdiger has signed a four-year deal with last season’s Champions League winners and will be officially unveiled as a Real Madrid player on June 20.
A statement from Real said: “Real Madrid CF have reached an agreement to sign Antonio Rudiger, who will sign the club on a four-year contract.
“Rüdiger will be unveiled as a Real Madrid player on Monday 20 June at 12pm (CET) at Real Madrid City.
“After his disclosure, he will address the media.”
