Chelsea are offering N’Golo Kante a new three-year deal but the 31-year-old wants four years or will leave on a free transfer

CHELSEA have reportedly offered N’Golo Kante a new three-year deal… but the Frenchman wants four.

The 31-year-old midfielder has entered the final season of his current contract at Stamford Bridge.

There are concerns over his injury record but the Blues remain keen on keeping the Frenchman.

According to The Athletic, Chelsea’s former owners had proposed a three-year extension with an option for a fourth.

Talks were interrupted when the club was taken over by Todd Boehly before a new verbal offer was made last month.

However, the new terms included only two years plus an option for a third.

Currently, Kante is unwilling to accept such a deal as he wants the security of a longer contract.

The highly rated star is comfortable at Stamford Bridge and would be ready to play there for the rest of his career.

But by the looks of it, Kante could walk away as a free agent next summer — and even be in talks with clubs overseas in January.

Chelsea bosses are taking into account his troubled injury record as the star has already missed five of his side’s seven games this season.

Should he disagree with the Blues, Kante is said to have two interested suitors in the Premier League – as well as others in Spain, Germany and France.

Kalidou Koulibaly, also 31, was handed the four-year deal Kante covets following his summer transfer from Napoli.

Kante has made 262 appearances for Chelsea since joining from Leicester in 2016 and has won a Premier League title, an FA Cup, a Champions League, a Europa League, a Club World Cup and a Uefa Super Cup during his time in West London won.
