Chelsea are considering a new transfer offer for Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan that would see the Blues incur a £70m loss at the striker

INTER MILAN have reportedly made a new offer for Romelu Lukaku – but it means Chelsea would suffer a huge loss against the star.

The Belgium striker returned to Stamford Bridge from the Italians in 2021 for a whopping £97.5million.

But after just one difficult season with the Blues, he was sent back to the Serie A club on loan last season.

During his loan spell at Inter last season, Lukaku scored 14 goals in 37 games.

Having helped Inter to reach the Champions League final, they are keen to keep the 30-year-old.

However, the financial situation is tight and they are refusing to meet Chelsea’s asking price – even though it has been heavily reduced.

We announced yesterday that the west London club are ready to let Lukaku go for just £40m – that’s almost £60m less than the record transfer fee the club paid for him.

Inter are believed to have already rejected a transfer offer for the top star.

Now they have deposited a second deal worth around £25.7million, according to the transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.

He tweeted: “Inter have made a second offer worth €30m to sign Romelu Lukaku.

“Chelsea and Inter will be discussing over the next few hours to make a decision on Lukaku’s situation.

“He wants to continue in Europe – there is no chance for Saudi Arabia at the moment.”

Lukaku joined Chelsea from Anderlecht at the age of 17 but joined Everton after three years and two loan moves.

After stints at Manchester United and Inter, the striker established himself as a prolific goalscorer in Serie A.

That got him a move back to London, but mid-season Lukaku revealed he was unsure in the English capital.

It was the beginning of the end for him and five months later he was back in Milan.

Now his Serie A colleagues Juventus and Saudi club Al-Hilal are also interested in signing a deal with him this summer.

Juve reportedly held talks with Chelsea last week about a potential deal for the striker.

However, the Italian giants are said to have been upset at its price.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabian Super League club Al Hilal have offered him a huge £21million-a-year deal but the star revealed he wants to stay in Europe.
