CHELSEA are expected to play a friendly behind closed doors against west London rivals Brentford as they improve their mid-season plans.
The Blues have only played Aston Villa during the World Cup break so far as Graham Potter tries to update his players.
His side lost 1-0 after an early goal from John McGinn but the friendly was overshadowed after Armando Broja suffered a potentially serious knee injury.
Brentford will now travel to Chelsea’s training ground in Cobham for a game on December 20.
The game will be played without fans and is expected to be the last warm-up game before the Londoners return to competition.
England’s Raheem Sterling, Mason Mount and Conor Gallagher could be involved in the game, with the trio expected back later in the week following their adventures in Qatar.
Kai Havertz, Cesar Azpilicueta, Christian Pulisic, Kalidou Koulibaly and Edouard Mendy will all return after their countries were also eliminated early at the World Cup.
Mateo Kovacic and Hakim Ziyech are unlikely to be available against Croatia and Morocco respectively in this week’s World Cup semifinals in Brentford.
Chelsea return to the Premier League on December 27 when they take on Bournemouth while Potter tries to get the show back on the road.
In the club’s chaotic season ahead of the extended international break, they finished eighth, 8 points off the top four.

Things didn’t start too badly with an opening weekend win at Everton followed by a draw against Tottenham that almost saw Thomas Tuchel and Antonio Conte clash.
The confrontation would be one of the last memorable moments of Tuchel’s reign at Stamford Bridge before he was ousted by the new owners.
Graham Potter then led Chelsea in nine unbeaten games, the highlights of which were two victories over AC Milan in the Champions League.
But form suddenly disintegrated as Chelsea were struck at Potter’s former club Brighton before inflicting losses on Arsenal and top-four rivals Newcastle.
