CARLY TELFORD has called the time of her Chelsea career with the goalkeeper playing for the National Women’s Football League side San Diego Wave.
The departure of the Blues star to the US comes amid rumors that Jill Scott is about to move to Aston Villa temporarily.
Telegraph Sport speak Scott, 34, almost agrees with a short-term Villans move that will see her spend the rest of this term on the Midlands team.
And they claim the midfielder, who has made City’s top 111 appearances, is expected to complete the switch in the next 24 hours.
They also think the club, which will face the WSL champions in the FA Cup fourth round tie, are on the hunt for a striker.
It is believed Ward’s side, who finished ninth in the tournament, are keen to bolster their attack with winger Emily Gielnik on Asian Cup duty with Australia.
The club have only conceded 5 times in the last 9 matches in all competitions.
Their total goal tally includes two in a tough 2-1 win over Leicester in the WSL last time around.

Scott’s former Sunderland team-mate Telford, 34, was in the Chelsea squad for the final as the club drew 0-0 away from Brighton.
Her move to the NWSL will see her reunited with her former England teammate, Casey Stoney.
The former Manchester United player became head coach of the US club last July after stepping down as leader of the Reds.
Telford renewed her tenure with the Blues last February and took advice from their under-16s and under-17s goalkeepers as part of her deal.
About the goalkeeper leaving Chelsea, the owner of the club Emma Hayes said: “Carly has been a great service to the club through two different spells.
“She is a huge figure in the dressing room and an extremely valuable member of our team.
‘We don’t want to lose her, but we can’t stop her from taking advantage of this great opportunity in the United States.
“We wish Carly well on the next chapter of her career and she knows she will always be welcome back here at any time.”
Telford began his senior career at Sunderland in 2002 before moving to Leeds United in 2007, followed by a move to Chelsea in 2011.
The move saw her join the club before making her Women’s Super League debut that year.
And the Sunderland-born player led her side in the 2012 FA Cup final against Chelsea when they fell narrowly to Birmingham on penalties.
Telford played for Australian clubs Perth Glory and Notts County Ladies between 2012 and 2017 before returning to Kingsmeadow.
The WSL veteran, who has 27 caps for England, was part of the GB squad that reached the quarter-finals of the Tokyo Olympics women’s soccer tournament last summer.
The veteran player received a call after Karen Bardsley’s injury.
