MANCHESTER UNITED fans thanked Adrien Rabiot’s mother after last night’s FA Cup win over Reading.

Casemiro’s double propelled United into the fifth round of the competition as the Brazilian once again stole the show at Old Trafford.

His impressive performances since arriving in August have been praised by fans and pundits alike – but it may all have been so different.

Rabiot was initially United’s main target to fill the hole in midfield but the deal failed to go through.

It was reported that the robust demands of his agent mother, Veronique Rabiot, were what caused the move to fail.

United fans couldn’t help but appreciate her role in making Casemiro land in Manchester.

One fan said on Twitter: “Thank you Veronique Rabiot for giving us the best defensive midfielder in the world.

One supporter went even further with the tongue-in-cheek call for “dedicating a statue” in the agent’s honor.

Another said: “Rabiot we all forgot about him. Thank you, Veronique!”

And another fan, trying to underscore the importance of Casemiro, said: “I’ll tell you now. Take Casemiro out of that United side and replace him with Rabiot and we’d be at least 10 points worse off in the league.

United are enjoying their most competitive season in years under Erik ten Hag.

Brilliant form after the World Cup had even sparked talks of a title challenge ahead of last week’s defeat at the Emirates when Casemiro was suspended.
