In late November 2020, HBO Max launched a new show called The flight attendant, where Kaley Cuoco played the eponymous flight attendant Cassie Bowden, who wakes up next to a dead body in Bangkok. Now the show is back with its second season, set to premiere on the streaming platform on April 21, and fans can’t wait to see what’s in store for Cassie. But did you know that season one is based on a book of the same name by Chris Bohjalian? So before the new season arrives, take a look back and see where this story all began.

Chris Bohjalians The flight attendant was published in 2018 and has become a New York Times bestseller. The book follows flight attendant Cassie Bowden after she wakes up hungover, this time in a hotel room in Dubai, not Bangkok, with a dead man in bed. Like the show, Cassie must contend with alcoholism, her fellow Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agents questioning her, and the question of whether she could have killed that man. The book tells the story in a different but equally compelling way. And the best part is that it’s currently available on Amazon in paperback for $7.

While the first season seems to have stayed fairly faithful to the book, it’s safe to say that season two will deviate from the source material and offer fans a new look at Cassie.
