Check out Hollywood legend Tom Cruise’s car collection – and find out why he was blacklisted by Bugatti

After more than 40 years in Hollywood, Tom Cruise is still one of the biggest movie stars in the industry.
Always at the center of the action, Tom is famous for performing his own stunts in most of his blockbuster films.

Whether it’s daredevil skydiving or piloting planes and helicopters in terrifying adventures, Mr. Cruise loves to roll up his sleeves and get involved.
His roles in films like Days of Thunder and Mission: Impossible have also thrown in some pretty serious driving scenes – and this may be where he developed a penchant for high-performance cars.
A cool collection of expensive and often rare machines, it easily rivals other action stars like Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio, although Mr Cruise had an odd run-in with Bugatti that led to a sort of standoff between the two big names, which we’ll cover later.
Now read on and check out 5 cars in Tom Cruise’s fantastic collection.
1. 1958 Chevy Corvette C1

6
The Corvette C1 was just an amazing looking sports car from the 1950s/60s, the first generation model and it came as a drop top which made things even cooler.
Most came with booming V8s and prices are now rising – with the very best examples fetching hundreds of thousands.
2. 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS

6
Tom bought a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS before he became a superstar and interestingly the car also appears in the Jack Reacher film. According to automotive site carhp.com, the car cost around $32,000.
With a big 6.5 liter V8 engine and Tom’s name on the owner’s document, it’s safe to say he’d probably get a lot more at auction today.
3. 2010 Ford Mustang Saleen S281

6
America is famous for taking old-school muscle cars and making them even more powerful and faster in a straight line. Saleen tinkered with the 4.6-liter V8 engine to make around 485 hp – enough power to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in under 4 seconds. Of course, Tom’s model came with a bright orange paint job to stand out a little more.
4. Mercedes-Benz S-Class

6
The Mercedes S-Class is packed with luxury touches, so it’s no surprise that Mr. Cruise bought a model – one that cost more than $100,000. You didn’t see him very often at the wheel, that was the chauffeur’s job.
5. 2005 Bugatti Veyron

6
Tom paid nearly $2 million for a piece of automotive history and acquired the 1000hp hypercar in the mid-noughties.
According to carhp.com, the strange thing is that the manufacturer actually banned Tom from buying another Bugatti model again.
Why? Apparently Mr Cruise drove his wife Katie Holmes to the premiere of his film Mission Impossible 3 in the Bugatti.

Upon arrival, Tom was unable to open the passenger door for a good 40 seconds, which really annoyed the Bugatti bosses as of course the world media was filming and photographing.
Angered by the low quality and ease of use, they made the decision to never do business with Tom Cruise again.
