CHAOS broke out in the courtroom after Tory Lanez’s verdict as his father caused a scene and reportedly yelled at “evil” prosecutors.
Tory Lanez was convicted of all three counts in the 2020 shooting of rapper Megan Thee Stallion.
Lanez’s father, Sonstar Peterson, and his stepmother were seen shouting about “wicked injustice”.
Peterson was heard screaming, “This evil system stands before Almighty God!” reports the Associated Press.
He then pointed to two prosecutors in the case and yelled, “You two are bad, bad people. You know exactly what you did.”
Peterson was removed from the courtroom but continued to shout.
Meghann Cuniff, a senior reporter for Law & Crime, tweeted that the scene in the courtroom was “downright scary”.
“Tory Lanez was remanded on the spot, handcuffed and led out by deputy sheriffs officers. There were six in the courtroom total, two by the door and four behind Lanez and there was quite a scene trying to get Lanez’s father and stepmother under control,” Cuniff tweeted.
“A woman in the gallery held up her hand as Tory’s father shouted about Roc Nation and evil injustice and ‘In the name of Jesus!’ repeated. The deputies forced them all out into the hallway and told the gallery we had to remain seated.
Lanez was found guilty of three felonies in the 2020 shooting in which Megan Thee Stallion, real name Megan Pete, was injured.
Lanez, a Canadian rapper whose real name is Daystar Peterson, was convicted of assault with a semi-automatic firearm, possession of a loaded unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and gross negligence in discharging a firearm.
Lanez faces up to 22 years in prison.
Megan Thee Stallion’s attorney, Alex Spiro, released a statement to Cuniff: “The jury got it right. I am grateful that there is justice for Meg.”
Also, Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascón Approved a post-conviction statement.
“I want to start by emphasizing the bravery of Megan Pete. With your testimony, despite repeated and grotesque attacks, you have shown incredible courage and vulnerability that you do not deserve,” the statement begins.
“You have been subjected to an unjust and despicable test that no woman should ever face, and you have been an inspiration to others throughout LA County and across the country.”
