The kick-off of the Champions League final has been delayed by at least 15 minutes after hundreds of fans struggled to get into the Stade de France.
About an hour before kick-off there was chaos outside the stadium and fans were stopped trying to enter the stadium.
ESPN report a gathering of supporters at perimeter points where tickets are checked and bags searched.
For this reason the authorities opened the first checkpoint to increase the flow of people and prevent a reduction in crowds.
There are also reports of Reds being directed to a small Real Madrid entrance which was quickly blocked as a significant number of fans attempted to get inside.
This resulted in large parts of the Liverpool end being left empty minutes before kick-off, leading to the delay.
Gary Lineker tweeted 15 minutes before kick-off was scheduled: “Finding impossible to get into the ground. That seems very dangerous. Absolute carnage.”
Another tweet on the situation read: “Many Liverpool fans are miles off the ground with 20 minutes to go. Huge congestion problems and reports of checkpoint chaos.
“Real Madrid finish completely full, Liverpool finish very sparsely. Fans outside, with tickets, here for hours before kick-off, can’t get in. Absolute chaos.”
ESPN reporter Mark Ogen wrote: “Whatever happens now – and there’s no way the Lpool end will be full at the start – UEFA needs to figure out how Real Madrid fans were able to fill their end nearly an hour before the KO, while thousands of Lpool fans were stuck outside in huge lines for over an hour.”
