Celeb Bake Off fans in hysteria as star’s cake collapses in messy scenes

VIEWERS of The Great British Bake Off: Stand Up To Cancer went into hysterics as a star’s cake collapsed in chaotic scenes.

Fans of the TV show took to Twitter after Lucy Beaumont’s cake was left in ruins and fell off its stand mid-show.

Comedian Lucy, 39, attempted to bake a three-layer chocolate cake as part of her showstopper for the show’s final round.

The star, who is married to 8 out of 10 Cats star Jon Richardson, planned to decorate the cake with tiny fondant figures.

She told show hosts Noel Fielding and Matt Smith: “I’d really like to go to an all you can eat carvery with Idris Elba and Tom Hardy.

“Then I take my bra off halfway through the meal because if you take your bra off you can eat more.”

However, despite their high hopes for the cake, things started to go wrong after the three chocolate cakes came out of the oven.

The biscuit trio appeared to be baked on the outside, but after being removed from the tin, they began to crumble.

“You take one side of your cake and then you take the other side of your cake,” Lucy told the cameras as they began to fall apart.

“Oh god. I think I’m actually going to cry.”

Although she tried to hold them together with her hands, they fell apart completely when she shook her head.

“Oh god, it all went wrong,” she added, before attempting to come up with a new idea to make the cake presentable.

“I think I didn’t let the cake cool enough. Was it too late to change my subject?”

However, as she did her best to remedy the situation, fans of the show took to Twitter to laugh at the disaster.

“Lucy should be there every week!” One said, as another chimed in: “Apocalyptic scenes in the Bake-Off tent courtesy of Lucy Beaumont!”

“What the heck is Lucy actually doing,” said a third, while a fourth added: “OMG what was Lucy doing?!”

“Lucy made a mountain of mud,” added a fifth alongside a row of laughing faces, while a sixth said: “Lucy the worst baker ever.”

“Lucy’s cake is pretty much the state of my life!” a seventh completed.

It comes after Adele Roberts stunned her fans with a cancer update while attending the celebrity bake-off special.

The broadcaster informed fans that she received chemotherapy while attending the Channel 4 show.
