Cedar Creek Seniors Bermudez, Landicini Break Records

It seemed like a long shot on Saturday morning, but at the end of the day, Cedar Creek senior wide recordist JoJo Bermudez topped the two lists.

After 12 catches, a record of 235 yards on Saturday, no player in South Jersey high school football history has caught more passes than Bermudez.

Bermudez hit both major milestones while helping Cedar Creek win the South Jersey Group III championship on Saturday afternoon with an impressive victory over Delsea who were unbeaten before.

According to South Jersey High School football historian Chuck Langerman.

His 183 catches to his career, eclipsing the previous mark of 180 has been held by Pennsville’s Drew Burdsall since 2013, according to Langerman. His 253 yards gives him 3,128, also a South Jersey record per Langerman.

Bermudez, the Pirates’ multi-star receiver, was not the only member of the Egg Harbor City school to break the record on Saturday.

Senior midfielder JC Landicini broke both the Cedar Creek and Cape-Atlantic League single-season passing records, after throwing 350 yards and five TDs against Delsea.

Landicini currently has 2,942 passing yards, topping the state this season. He’s also hit 31 touches and just four interceptions, with one more to go against Central Jersey champion Woodrow Wilson for the Regional Group III title at Rutgers University on May 4. .
