COLLIER COUNTY

The Collier County Sheriff’s Office is running a Teen Driving Competition to help keep your kids safe on the road.

This course provides you with the knowledge and practical experience to reduce the risk of an accident. The driving skills you will learn are the same techniques used by professional drivers, including NASCAR.

The class includes two days of training. The first day is four hours of instruction and the second day is eight hours of vehicle activities.

You will be driving your own vehicle and you must have a teen driver’s license or have a license to drive with a licensed 21-year-old driver traveling with you.

Licensees must have at least 25 hours of driving time and have a license for at least 6 months to be accepted into the program.

And your instructor will be a certified law enforcement trainer.

Upon completion of this course, you will graduate with a certificate of course completion. You can show the certificate to your auto insurance company for a reduced premium.

CCSO is currently accepting registrations for the next two sessions to be held later this month and in February.

The next lesson begins with a classroom session on the evening of January 20, followed by a driving lesson on the morning of January 22. Both sessions will be held at First Baptist Academy, 3000 Orange Blossom Drive .

The February term begins with a classroom session on the evening of February 17, followed by a driving lesson on the morning of February 19. Both sessions will be held at First Baptist Academy.
