GREENSBURG, Pa. (KDKA) – Animal advocates and humanitarian officials in Westmoreland County are asking the public for help following a disturbing discovery.

“We received a call that a kitten was found in a pack of cats that appeared to have a leash around it,” said veterinarian Decy Morrow.
Ranga tied a plastic zip tie around her body just behind her front legs. Dead zip did some damage.
“Unfortunately, basically saw through the tissue,” says Morrow.
His wound required surgery.
“After we removed the zip, there was a wound trying to heal, so we knew the zip was there for a week,” Morrow said.
Humane police officers are looking for the person responsible for tying up a cat with several ropes. The animal was discovered in North Huntingdon and required surgery for the injuries it sustained. Full story tonight on KDKA News! pic.twitter.com/qoLGZ5AURs

Morrow is Ranga’s attending veterinarian.
“We hope he makes a full recovery from the surgery and he’s doing pretty well,” Morrow said. “It is frustrating to see this type of injury because they are 100 per cent avoidable. It doesn’t have to happen. “
What would cause anyone to do this to a cat is anyone’s guess. But to find the answer, the authorities must find out who is responsible.
“We are offering a reward, $500 if someone has information to prosecute,” Morrow said.
As for Ranga’s future, Morrow said he’ll need time to heal wounds you can’t see.
“He was really scared and needed someone to give him some time to come out of his shell and be a happy boy,” Morrow said.
