Caroline Crouch’s murderous husband is asking for a transfer to prison as he ‘fears for his life’ after being brutally beaten in prison.

CAROLINE Crouch’s husband has asked to move to another prison as he ‘fears for his life’.

His lawyer, Alexandros Papaioannidis, told the Sun Online that the prisoner openly admitted to wanting to murder him.

Anagnostopoulos was transferred from Korydallos prison in Athens to Malandrinos prison in central Greece.

But he has now asked to be returned to Korydallos prison for “humanitarian and personal security reasons,” reports Proto Thema.

In a document released by ANT1 News, the wife killer filed the application with prosecutors on June 1, raising the issue of safety.

He also referred to the other inmate’s attack in January.

The document states: “My possible transfer to another detention center implies that my position is almost certainly at risk, with a threat to my physical integrity and my own life.

“The above is not reinforced by the fact that the case I am charged with affects the media and the public, increasing the sense of killing me and even my inmates.”

The 34-year-old, who was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of his wife, Caroline Crouch, of 20, noted that he was a “model prisoner”.

He added that he has helped stop fights between other inmates and always intervenes to try and find a solution.

Another reason he wants to move prison is to be close to his parents, who are his only relatives.

His application is currently with the Prosecutor of Korydallos Prison and will be forwarded to the Prison Council in ten days.

If accepted, a new application to the Central Transfer Committee will be required for his return to be considered.

Anagnostopoulos suffocated Caroline with a pillow in front of her 11-month-old daughter Lydia at her home in Athens last year.

While he initially claimed they were the victims of a gang robbery, he later confessed to their murder.

However, police assembled a stack of digital evidence that disrupted his timeline of the alleged botched robbery.

They found that Anagnostopoulos had actually been active during the time he was allegedly tied up and Caroline’s heart had stopped beating hours before he claimed the gang cracked down.

Detectives also revealed that the security camera had been tampered with earlier, when the pilot claimed the couple had had an argument that fateful night and Caroline had tried to book a hotel to escape.

Last month he was found guilty of the murder of the Briton by a mixed jury in Athens.

He was also found guilty of animal cruelty and two counts of criminal offenses after his elaborate ruse was exposed.

The mixed jury-judge court overwhelmingly rejected Anagnostopoulos’ attempt to make the murder look like a “crime of passion”, saying it was clear it was premeditated and should be punished as such.

The pilot will also appeal the testimony of the couple’s marriage counselor, who claims she is not “qualified” to make it, according to his attorney.

He will also ask for a reduced sentence, saying mitigating circumstances – like his good behavior in prison – should be taken into account.
