GRAEME SOUNESS has blasted Anthony Martial for not “coping with the pressure” at Manchester United.
And the Scot also took aim at Paul Pogba by claiming he ‘picks and chooses’ when he plays.
Martial, 26, is back at United after a stunning loan spell at Sevilla, where he has netted just once in 12 games.
He has scored just eight times in the last 18 months at Old Trafford.
However, Erik ten Hag appeared to have made Martial his No. 1 striker before suffering an injury ahead of their opening day defeat by Brighton.
It remains unclear how long the Frenchman will be out, leaving Ten Hag with a dilemma over wanton striker Cristiano Ronaldo.
But Souness has warned the new United boss not to rely on Martial.
The former player-turned-manager-turned-expert says Martial is “too good or too bad” to lead United’s line.
And in an altercation with ex-Red Devil Pogba, whom Souness had previously criticized, the Scot added that Martial is another footballer who has quality but only chooses to show it on his terms.
Souness told TalkSport: “In the case of United, they didn’t really recruit game changers.

“Speaking of ‘We will miss Martial’, how many opportunities will this young man have to become a Manchester United player?
“He has already proved to me that he is not for Man United. He can’t handle the pressure of playing at Man United.
“They are one of the biggest clubs in the world. They’re in a cup final every time they go out and play a football game.
“Like Liverpool, like Chelsea, like Man City. Welcome to the big league.
These players are not ready for this, they are not ready for the fight
“It’s a bit like Pogba. I see both and I see players in them and qualities that few players possess.
“But it’s on their terms and they choose when to use it.
“When you play for a big club, you can’t be like that. At a big club you play in a cup final every week.
“These players are not ready for this, they are not ready for the fight. It’s not good to be a great player in training or every six or seven games.
“You’re at a big club because you want to win and always want to challenge.
“Basically, they’re dodgy. They’re not people to rely on, over.
“I don’t think you can rely on Martial anymore, not that you ever could. He was hit or missed far too well.”
