A DEADLY copperhead snake has found the perfect hiding place, camouflaged between a pile of leaves.
Footage shows the venomous reptile lurking on the ground fully covered – can you spot it?
The video was shot by Isaiah Lieberenz in the US state of Louisiana.
The snake isn’t easy to see at first – not until Isaiah starts zooming in and you can see it moving slowly.
He then used a snake hook to bring the reptile – a type of pit viper – closer.
Isaiah, 18, of Chicago, Illinois, said, “Copperheads are a fairly common snake in this area in general and tend to keep to themselves when possible.”
“When it comes to human encounters, the best way to avoid being bitten is to just leave them alone.”
He added, “I am experienced in handling snakes and always act appropriately when encountering venomous or potentially dangerous snakes, and the person in this video wasn’t particularly defensive.”
The southern copperhead has a painful bite, but one that is almost never fatal to humans.
Copperheads give no warning signs and will strike almost immediately if they feel threatened.
They have hemotoxic venom, meaning a Copperhead bite will cause temporary tissue damage in the immediate area of the bite.
Copperhead snakes are the most common species of snake in the United States.
