Meghan was awarded the prestigious assignment by the Queen, 95, in 2019 after she kept it for 45 years.

But the former actress was stripped of her patronage when she and Prince Harry, 37, announced their departure from royal life a year later.

It reverted back to Her Majesty in 2020 but will be moved to Camilla, 74 years old, in the next few months, The Sunday Times reported.

A source close to the stage-loving duchess said she was “well off” when she lost the role three years ago.

“She really wanted it,” they said.

“She was surprised when it came to Meghan, and would be delighted to receive it now, after being disappointed not to receive it in the first round.”

Meghan, 40, made only one public engagement at the National Theater during her time as a patron, as well as one private visit before stepping down.

Camilla taking on one of Meghan’s old roles could further fuel the alleged friction between her and the Sussexes.

Charles and Camilla is said to be afraid of Harry’s impending memoir would be a “terrifying blow” for the Duchess of Cornwall, especially in the early years of the couple’s love affair.

The book will provide a “Definitive narrative of experiences, adventures, loss, and life lessons that helped shape him.”

Exactly what it will reveal remains to be seen, and how damaging it could be for Charles and Camilla similarly hang in the balance.

But Harry previously shared how he experienced “pain or suffering” from the pain his parents endured in a potential dig into how Charles handled Diana’s death when he was just 12 .

He also told Oprah Winfrey that his father “literally cut off my finances” in 2020 and discuss “hereditary pain”.

‘INTERNATIONAL DAMAGE’

A source said last week: “Forget the Prince Andrew story, the main topic of discussion at Clarence House was Harry’s book – and the reputational damage it could very well cause.

“There are concerns about Harry’s recollections of Camilla joining the Royal Family, and how her long love affair with Charles has damaged him since childhood.

“Harry was fiercely loyal and protective of his late mother and her legacy, and refused to accept Camilla as the greatest love of his father’s life.

“It is understandable that he found those early years extremely difficult and that he can openly blame Camilla for what he believes went wrong in his childhood and the traumas that his entire life has suffered. set of situations caused.

“Charles is fiercely protective of Camilla. The last thing he needs – especially in a supposedly Queen’s anniversary year – is a horrific murder of Camilla at a time when everyone has finally taken it. her heart.”
