‘Call the Midwife’ Season 10 Episode 7 Finale: On Nancy’s Future Summary

The following is a summary of Call the Midwife finale, offered before airing to PBS Passport subscribers.

From a modern point of view, Student Nurse Nancy did nothing wrong with PBS’ Call the Midwife.

However, when it became known that Nancy had given birth out of wedlock in the 1960s and that the nuns who raised her – and later her daughter – kept the whole thing a secret, it became easier to understand why Julienne didn’t know what to do with. aspiring midwife. And as Sister Julienne considered, Nancy must tag along with Nurse Phyllis in the Season 10 finale on Sunday night.

Nurse Phyllis and midwife Nancy take care of a mother-to-be in her 40s named Blanche. The woman and her husband Walter weren’t trying to get pregnant, but it happened. So Blanche, who already had four teenage daughters, decided to give her baby to her sister Sylvia, who was unable to conceive.

Blanche gives birth to a baby boy and Sylvia excitedly names him Justin. But when nurse Phyllis and doctor Patrick Turner diagnose the sweet baby with Down syndrome, suddenly Sylvia doesn’t want the boy anymore. Painful at first (and then a little relieved that she’s going through a tough time with her newborn son), Blanche rushes in and gets her baby back.

Call the Midwife, BlancheBlanche changed the tot’s name to Robert and shared the good news with her husband and two daughters still living at home. Blanche and the girls were delighted, but Walter struggled with the results – not only because of the financial burden he could bear with little Robert, but because he was worried about development challenges. of the boy and the ridicule of society.

Thankfully, Fred and Violet were there to encourage and support Blanche and Walter, because their grandson Reggie was a well-adjusted and happy young man growing up despite having Down Syndrome. Fred tells Walter that Baby Robert is a blessing and an upbringing, while Violet has given Blanche lots of beautiful baby clothes and says his birth will make them even better people.

Call the midwife, Baby RobertJust as teenage mother Jeanette’s adoption woes happened in Episode 5, Blanche and Sylvia’s situation pushed Nancy into an emotional twist. Without thinking twice, she went to see her daughter Collette (who thought Nancy was her older sister), and the head nun was unhappy at the unannounced visit. Things took a turn for the worse when Nancy saw a bruise on little Collette’s arm; Collette is so afraid the nun did it, she refuses to tell Nancy her name.

Angry Nancy rushes to get Collette out of the orphanage and the two stay in a budget hotel until Nancy knows what to do. When she ran out of money, the hotel manager said she could pay with sexual favors. And when Nancy refused his offer, he attacked her. But Nancy fought back and hit Collette just in time.

The two return to Nonnatus House where the nuns and midwives are sick with anxiety. Nurse Phyllis is angry at Nancy for acting so recklessly and putting her and Collette in danger. In a wonderful twist of fate, Sister Monica Joan defended Nancy and said, “Prayers for her sins have been carefully and mercilessly read. … Ask her what she wants. ”

Call Midwife, Midwife NancyIn return, Nancy said she aspires to become a midwife and raise her daughter lovingly and without bruises.

Sister Hilda spoke to Julienne (who was on a retreat) and told Nancy the good news: She could stay and become a midwife, and Collette could live in a foster home for her. until Nancy graduated. (Call the Midwife? Like calling the tissue company, because our eyes are leaking.)

Elsewhere in the finale, Nurse Trixie learns that Matthew is a lord, but the wealthy and ignorant widower makes it all right. This includes making an annual and generous charitable donation to the Nonnatus House in the name of his late wife. Also, Cyril and Nurse Lucille decided they would get married in Poplar after his grandfather died… and Sister Frances killed a rat as an outspoken assassin to save a child living in a prison. Isn’t Sister Frances the best?
