Part 2 of Call of Duty: Vanguardof multiplayer, and Call of Duty: Warzone Pacific, Released on February 14th Activision announced on Tuesday. Players will deal with a secret Nazi weapon and take down sluggish armored transports for plenty of loot as the action begins, next weekend.
The new weapon, as shown in the rather brutal lore trailer above, is Nebula V, a poison gas that can enhance small weapons (both ammunition and throwables) in Call of Duty: Warzone Pacific. The Nebula V Bomb can be used in area denial tactics, detonating for high damage and an elongated cloud of gas that spreads over a small radius. Nebula V ammo behaves like regular ammo, until the Operator is knocked out with it. Then they emit, you guessed it, a cloud of gas that is toxic to whoever revives them.
The blog post announcing the new season says the damage is like staying out of the battle royale’s fall circle – so the damage is light, the screen dims, and the respirator life drops quickly if equipped.
In Battlefield, The Axis powers are securing the Nebula V shipment with AI armored transport trucks on Caldera. They’re hard to crack, but they’ll give a lot of good loot to those persistent (and skilled enough). In Vanguard, mechanized armor will come later thanks to Arms Race, a mode featuring motorcycles, team transports, and tanks. Sledgehammer Games will provide more details on that when the patch notes are published next week.
Expand this sizable roadmap graphic to see more of what’s coming with the February 14 update, for both Vanguard and Warzone Pacific:
Vanguard get two new maps, Casablanca (urban warfare) and Gondola, a three-lane type of map with lots of vertical features (and hazards). Players will also receive three new Operators from Task Force Yeti (shown in the trailer at the top). Alpine fighter Anna Drake kicks off season 2, and she’ll be followed by heavyweight AD carry Thomas Bolt and Brazilian sniper Gustavo dos Santos.
A Play beta ranked in Vanguard Multiplayer also kicks off with season 2. Ranked play will feature Call of Duty League approved rules, displayed skill ratings and commensurate competitive rewards, Activision said.
For Warzone PacificNew game types in season 2 will include two limited time modes with callbacks to games from last year. Battlefield. Caldera Clash is “an evolution of Clash on Verdansk ’84,” says Activision, and it puts up to 12 teams of four Operators each (so, 48 in total) in a supported, Deathmatch. by three powers to help assemble a team at the end of the match.
Then season 2 will introduce the Rebirth Iron Trials, a variant of Iron Trials ’84. “Has its own set of weapons (from Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War) and many rule changes to increase kill time, this mode is built for the toughest members of our community,” said Activision. It’s a Duos mode consisting of 20 teams (thus, 40 players total).
