Caleb Farley says in heartbreaking tribute dad Robert ‘wasn’t meant to go like this’ after he died in a house explosion

NFL star Caleb Farley has taken to social media after his father Robert was killed in a home explosion early Tuesday morning.
The Tennessee The Titans player owned the $2 million property in Mooresville, North Carolina, about 28 miles north of Charlotte.
“Dad you are a legend I love you (for a lifetime)” Caleb, 24, wrote over a video posted to his Instagram Story.
The clip showed a large group attending a toast in memory of Robert, who was 61 when he died.
“You shouldn’t have dated that guy,” Caleb wrote of another video of the gathering posted to his story.
The jock also shared a picture of his dad playing golf and another next to rapper Rich Homie Quan’s song Daddy.

“He may be gone, but he will never be forgotten,” one participant was heard saying of Robert during the gathering.
The explosion happened just after midnight Tuesday morning.
According to the authorities, another person suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
The cause of the explosion is still under investigation.

Caleb was pictured at the property later Tuesday morning speaking to authorities.
The tragedy came after the athlete lost his mother Robin to breast cancer in 2018.
She was first diagnosed when Caleb was in middle school.
Robin went into remission for two years, but the cancer later returned.
While at Virginia Tech, Caleb had the opportunity to spend time with his mother while he was recovering from an ACL injury.
“My mother had a crazy belief in me and in things I could do,” said the player ESPN in 2021.
He suffered more serious injuries during his college career, which was later cut short due to the pandemic.
A few months later, Caleb decided to skip the 2020 season at Virginia Tech and pursue a career in the NFL.

“My faith has taught me to be wise and careful,” he said at the time.
The Titans begin their 2023 season on September 10 with a game against the New Orleans Saints.
