A COACH driver reportedly fell asleep during an airport pickup and drove into barriers, causing terrified passengers to scream.
Customers prevented the driver from continuing his journey on the National Express service from Gatwick Airport to Bournemouth.
Marketing specialist Omar Reyes, 26, said a passenger shouted at the driver that he had missed his stop.
Omar said: “There was no response, the bus moved to the left and collided with barriers.
“I yelled at the driver, ‘Stop the bus, man!’ then he kind of woke up and turned right and then left again, hitting street signs.
“Then the driver stopped the bus and we all went crazy. We were all shocked.”
One of the other four passengers on the bus called the police, reports The Mirror.
National Express is now investigating the incident in Winchester, Hants.
The company said police were called to the incident but no injuries were reported
A company spokesman said: “No injuries were reported and all passengers were allowed to continue their journey.
“The police were present but there was no further involvement.”
