Bungie dispels concerns about Destiny 2 after Sony acquisition
With the release Destiny 2’s Biggest Expansion With just over three weeks to go, players around the world have already received some exciting news ahead of tomorrow’s reset. Sony has officially acquired Bungie for $3.6 billion. However, the company will later operate as an independent SIE subsidiary.
Bungie is best known for their work on notable titles like Halo. However, the name Destiny was known to the gaming community in 2014 as one of the most popular and addictive shooting games on the market.
With Destiny 2 having been on the platform for nearly four years now, Bungie has crafted a storyline of its own for fans and veteran players alike. With Sony’s acquisition of the company, Bungie removed a lot of the air soon after, by uploading a blog post on their official website.
Bungie’s recent blog post clarifies key concerns about Destiny 2’s future
Minutes after the official news was released, a blog post was immediately released, relieving the worries of the players. They’ve removed most of the FAQ, regarding questions about exclusivity and planned content changes.
As everything is stable right now, nothing is planned to change with this. Bungie announced that they will keep the content for the Light vs Dark story intact until 2024.
Beyond that, everything related to crossplay will remain unchanged, where players can launch The Witch Queen expansion on a platform of their choice. The Year 5 expansion will not have any platform exclusivity for the duration of its planned run of one year.
However, one of the main queries of players is about third-party applications such as Companion app, Destiny Item Manager and their accessibility. Thankfully, Bungie responded to this, saying that everything will remain as before.
