BRUNO FERNANDES wants to be one of Manchester United’s top earners while at the club.
The Portuguese star, 27, scored twice as the Reds took a two-goal lead at Saturday’s draw at Aston Villa.
That number brings his tally to 33 goals, plus 22 assists, since he arrived at Old Trafford in January 2020.
Only Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah (45) and Tottenham’s Harry Kane (34) have scored more Premier League goals during that period.
Fernandes has signed a five-year contract with the option to extend for another 12 months when he arrives at United.
We revealed a few months ago that Fernandes is in talks about a new bumper deal to increase his salary to around £250,000 a week.
Now The Athletic are reporting that ‘those talks have been temporarily shelved’ after the former Sporting Lisbon midfielder’s representatives rejected an offer in the fall.
They announced that talks would resume in May after the current campaign ends.

Cristiano Ronaldo is Man United’s highest earner with a salary of around £400,000 a week.
Goalkeeper David de Gea earns £375,000 a week with Paul Pogba, Raphael Varane, Anthony Martial, Jadon Sancho, Edinson Cavani and Marcus Rashford all earning more than £200,000 a week.
Despite the breakdown in negotiations between Fernandes and the club, United appeared relaxed about the situation.
He still has a contract until 2025 but wants his salary to improve so that he is among the highest paid on the team.
