Brodie Croft believes living in Salford can help him become a true All Star

BRODIE Croft believes it can’t help him to do what every proud Aussie wants to do if he hasn’t laid everything down for him at Salford – in England.

The Red Devils half-back has been awarded the contract to inspire the Combined Nations All Stars to another win against Shaun Wane’s side.

Croft was with Melbourne Storm, who have a swimming pool at their stadium and a multi-million dollar training facility.

His other NRL side, Brisbane Broncos, have invested around £15million to make their off-field HQ as good as possible – Salford has none of that.

But the 24-year-old believes you get more out of him if you make the most of what you have, saying: “Bigger clubs have so much available while Salford – the up-and-coming ones – don’t, but they are people who make the club.

“It’s a good group of guys that I really enjoy playing with, who help me on the field. When everything happens off the field, it depends on how you do on it.

“Salford got more out of me as a player. I really enjoy the coaching staff’s approach to the game and they squeeze the lemon as hard as they can with the team.

“We’re going in the right direction, we can make something out of our season.”

Salford may be third from bottom in the Super League but Croft is joined by club-mate Ken Sio today and meets Kallum Watkins.

And he admits it’s a daunting prospect to take on the man who has played as a back rower on his side of the field.

He added: “I’ve done my best to play as well as I can but I believe the best is yet to come.

“I look forward to the progress I can make at Salford. Having three players in both squads shows we’re making progress. Salford are growing as a team and it’s great to get this recognition.

“Kallum is playing on my side and I’ve loved every minute – he’s a special player.

“He can make me look better than I am. I enjoy playing with him, I’m not looking forward to playing against him. I wish he was on our team!”
