Briton, father-of-five, dies in horror motorcycle accident while on holiday in Thailand – while horrified friend overhears a blast on the phone

A BRIT father has died after being hit by a truck in Thailand while on the phone to his horrified girlfriend.

Jay Bridgehouse, from Stockport, Greater Manchester, suffered serious injuries when he was thrown from his motorbike on the “trip of a lifetime”.

The 32-year-old was hospitalized after the accident in the early hours of February 26 and underwent emergency surgery.

Doctors had expected father-of-five Jay to wake up within four to six hours of surgery, but he ended up in a coma.

Tragically, he died five weeks later on March 18 after contracting pneumonia and suffering a second brain hemorrhage, Manchester Evening News reports.

Jay’s heartbroken friend Naomi had to overhear the confrontation because he had just forgotten to put the phone down.

He had flown to Thailand to “chase his dreams” and look for work and was riding his motorcycle without a helmet when he was hit by a truck.

His mum Tracey said he was in Thailand with Naomi but had been out for drinks with some friends.

She added, “He put the phone in his pocket but the call wasn’t over so she said ‘Hello, hello?’

“Then she heard it.”

Jay’s devastated family, who flew 5,000 miles to be by his side, have described him as “funny” in an emotional tribute.

His mother and father Dean told MEN: “He was a wonderful father and son and loved by everyone.

“He was boisterous and a little mischievous and was always the first to turn up the music at a party.

“He was always up for a laugh.”

Jay’s family is now arranging for his body to be flown back to the UK for his funeral.

To help with the costs, a donation page has been set up, with well-wishers donating almost £30,000.

Tracey added: “We are all absolutely devastated and broken as a family.

“We have been blown away by all the messages of support and how many people have donated on the funding side.”
