British tourist drowns in Crete after lifeless body washed up on beach in THIRD tragic death in resort of Chania in days

A British tourist drowned while holidaying in Crete, marking the third tragic death in the popular resort in just a few days.

The woman, believed to be from Wales, was reportedly found unconscious on Wednesday afternoon.

Her body was washed ashore due to strong waves.

According to local reports, rescuers tried to revive the woman for half an hour, but she could not be resuscitated.

She was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

The tourist’s death is the third incident in Chania in just a few days.

It is worth noting that there have been no lifeguards stationed on the beaches since October 1 as the contract term has expired.

Last month, another Brit tragically drowned in front of her boyfriend while diving off the coast of Albania.

A diving instructor has been arrested after the 29-year-old died while traveling off Saranda, a resort town on the south coast not far from the Greek island of Corfu.

A British tourist has died after slipping and falling almost 400ft off a cliff on the paradise Balearic island of Formentera.

The 55-year-old, who lived in London, fell to his death after losing his footing while visiting a spectacular lighthouse called La Mola.

And a 78-year-old Briton drowned in front of his wife while on vacation in Mallorca.
