Police investigations continued last night as conflicting reports emerged of how the beloved mother was killed.

Her family were first told the fatal shot was fired by a 14-year-old girl playing with a loaded gun at a house on the Meyersdal View Estate, on the outskirts of the crime-plagued town.

But South African sources reported last night that the gun was triggered while it was being cleaned at the property.

It is believed the bullet ricocheted off the wall before striking Fatima from Leicester, who died in hospital shortly afterwards.

Police sources said her 19-year-old daughter Humairah traveled with her on vacation and witnessed the horror.

Fatima’s colleagues at City of Leicester College were shocked and paid tribute to her in an online post last night.

It read: “Everyone at City of Leicester College is deeply shocked and saddened by the tragic death of our colleague and friend Fatima Issa.

“We all wish her family courage and peace at this time.”

Fayaz, 47, Fatima’s husband, a Leicester Council staffer, had previously spent family holidays with her in Cape Town, South Africa but was in the UK when she was killed.

He flew with the couple’s eldest son, Huzaifah, 21, to police at the scene of the tragedy last night.

Fatima’s brother Ebrahim yesterday confirmed her death and wrote on Facebook: “Ask for duas (prayers) for my sister Fatima Lambat Issa who has returned to the mercy of Allah.”

A source told The Sun last night: “This has been a total shock to the family.

“Fatima was a well-loved mother of four who was enjoying a family holiday in South Africa, but she was somehow shot.

“Her loved ones will be asking how on earth did this happen and how on earth did she get so close to someone with a loaded gun.

“Initial reports indicated a 14-year-old girl was fooling around with a fired gun, but the situation is far from clear and police are investigating.
