A BRIT father who eloped with a Ukrainian refugee has been reunited with his family after a judge overturned a restraining order issued by his ex.
Security guard Tony Garnett, 29, left Lorna, 28, after falling head over heels in love with 22-year-old Sofiia Karkadym.
Tony stunned his family by walking out just ten days after they welcomed Sofiia, from war-torn Ukraine, into their family home.
But the father-of-two revealed last week that he kicked his now-ex-girlfriend out of the home they set up together after a series of arguments.
He had been ordered not to contact ex-Lorna – mother of their two daughters – after she took him to court over allegations he had sent her abusive texts.
But now Tony is reunited with his family after a judge overturned the ban.
He told Mail Online today: “I’m beyond excited. It’s so great to be back with my kids. They come first.”
Bradford Crown Court heard he had split from Sofia and that she had returned to Ukraine.
Lorna told the court: “He’s actually a wonderful father who loves his daughters more than anything. I know he missed her very much.
“As I rationalized, I realized I was being unnecessarily paranoid. He would never do that, but it was difficult to communicate with him when she was there.”
The Sun originally broke the story that Tony fell in love with Sofia after offering her a place to stay when she left her homeland.
He collected her from Manchester Airport after Sofiia flew in from Germany, where she was awaiting government approval of her visa.
She flew there from Poland.
Two weeks later, Lorna became suspicious and ordered Sofiia to leave.
Tony packed his bags and went with her.
Lorna added: “To date we hadn’t really talked properly or listened to each other’s views in months.
“I’m really glad she left.
“Tony and I are not getting back together and I’m dating someone else now. He’s fine with that, but we’re going to put our kids first.”
Tony says he and Sofia have split after falling out while celebrating his 30th birthday at their home in Bradford, West Yorkshire.
He added that he ended up calling the police, who attended the address.
He said: “Getting involved with Sofia was a huge mistake. I’ve explained all the reasons before and I’m glad it’s all behind me now.”
