The Met Police allege that in August 2021 he “elicited or attempted to elicit information that may be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism.”

He is also accused of placing an object “with the intention of causing another to believe that said object is likely to explode or ignite, causing personal injury or property damage”.

The second incident is believed to have happened earlier this month.

Both allegedly happened in the town of Beaconside.

Khalif was charged Friday following an investigation by the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command.

He remains in police custody and is due to appear in Westminster Magistrates’ Court on January 28.
