Bridgerton Prequel Series Updates, Cast, Filming, Photos and More

Bridgeton Fans get ready because a new one Bridgeton Prequel series is coming to Netflix! We’ve started tracking all the newly released information to create a guide to share with you.

In May 2021, Netflix announced to the world that a Bridgeton Prequel series was in the works and the story would revolve around the origins of Queen Charlotte. Shonda Rhimes signed on as head writer, showrunner and executive producer. Rhimes’ longtime partners Betsy Beers and Tom Verica joined as executive producers, with Verica also directing.

Then, in March 2022, Netflix had finalized the full cast of the upcoming period drama, starring newcomer India Amarteifio. Unfortunately, the show doesn’t have an official title yet, but some news outlets have reported that the working title is for now Queen Charlotte.

Release updates for Bridgerton prequel series

Unfortunately, the historical drama doesn’t have a release date yet, and we don’t expect to hear about it until the filmmaking continues. Right now, our best prediction for the release date is sometime in 2023. There’s a slim chance we could see the show by the end of 2022, but we wouldn’t bet on it. In any case, you can count on us to announce the official release date as soon as it is announced.

Bridgerton prequel series cast

As previously mentioned, India Amarteifio will play a young Queen Charlotte in the series. You may know her from shows like sex education, Doctor Who and The tunnel. Joining her as Young King George is actor Corey Mylchreest. Bridgeton Formers Golda Rosheuval, Adjoa Andoh and Ruth Gemmell will reprise their roles in the prequel series.

Filming for the Bridgerton prequel series

As reported by Just Jared, production on the prequel series officially started on April 19th in London, England. Golda Rosheuvel, Hugh Sachs and several other cast members were photographed on set while filming.

However, the show’s director, Tom Verica, posted a photo of something series-related to his Instagram with the caption: “New chapter. Day 1 filming. never gets old #DirectorsPOV Wait till you see what we have in store!” This was posted on March 28th. So production may have started a little earlier than April 19th. A completion date is currently unknown.
