Bride finds creative way to make sure sick groom can still attend reception

After postponing their wedding twice because of the coronavirus, Christine and Gannon Karmire got creative when a bout of severe food poisoning threatened to derail the big day once again.

Gannon woke up the morning of their November wedding day feeling sick. He went to the hospital, where he was treated for food poisoning. Christine canceled the ceremony, but decided to hold the reception because it was already paid for. One of the venue owners suggested they do a “Stick Gannon”, which involves getting a rolling autoclave, adding pool cues to the arms, placing an iPad on top showing pictures of Gannon and put it on a suit.

“It’s meant to lighten the mood and encourage people to enjoy both corporate gatherings and prepared dinners,” Christine told Today. It worked – while the guests were upset Gannon wasn’t there, they danced and took pictures with his version of the stick. Before the show ended, Gannon was discharged from the hospital and made a surprise appearance at his reception. He said guests had already started chanting his name, and it was “a great feeling to see the love and support everyone has for us.” Bride finds creative way to make sure sick groom can still attend reception
