If found guilty, Toney faces a lengthy ban.
Toney has scored 58 goals in 105 games for Brentford, including 10 in 14 this season, but it wasn’t enough to earn a Qatar 2022 call-up.
Following the November announcement, The Sun revealed on Sunday that Toney is the subject of a seven-month investigation into allegations of gambling during his time in the minor leagues.
Toney played for Northampton, Peterborough and on loan at four other EFL clubs before joining the Bees in 2020.
In a statement today, the FA wrote: Ivan Toney has been charged with misconduct over alleged breaches of the FA’s betting rules.
“In addition to the previous charge, it is alleged that the Brentford FC forward broke FA Rule E8 a further 30 times between 15 March 2017 and 18 February 2019.
“Ivan Toney has until Wednesday January 4, 2023 to respond.”
