Zelenskyy’s nightly address for January 24, 2023

In his daily evening address, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine had discussed more support with France and Finland.

The Ukrainian President said: “Today I had extensive negotiations with French President Macron. We discussed many topics.

“I thank Mr. President for his willingness to strengthen Ukrainian air defenses and expand our armored cooperation. This armored element is becoming more and more important for the situation at the front. Likewise the artillery element.

“I personally thank France and Emmanuel for the urgently needed decisions to strengthen Ukrainian artillery. I am also grateful for the respective leadership within our anti-war coalition.

“And I heard a full understanding of the situation today, both in a conversation with President Macron and in a conversation with the President of Finland, who was visiting Kyiv today.

“There is a new package of support from Finland, including defense support. There is readiness to tighten sanctions against Russia and join our diplomatic initiatives. We have a vision of how to use this year to the advantage of our countries to work together in European and Euro-Atlantic institutions.

“That is, today, thanks to the French and Finnish stages of our diplomatic marathon, we significantly strengthened the defense of Ukraine.

“The main thing now is the speed of implementation of everything that we have agreed. Today I discussed in detail the points of our peace formula – what can be done together with France, what can be done together with Finland.

“It is very important that European leadership is tangible in this diplomatic effort. And today, particularly in my conversation with Emmanuel, I rejoiced in his leadership initiatives.

“I am also grateful to Finland for the vision of this country’s role in ensuring our common security within the framework of the peace formula. I signed several decrees honoring the defenders of our country.
