A NINE boy who died from the injuries he sustained at Travis Scott’s Astroworld concert, becomes the latest victim of tragic events.
9-year-old Ezra Blount suffered a serious injury at a concert in Houston after falling off her father’s shoulder when a crowd of about 50,000 suddenly made its way towards the stage.
He was on life support for several days but his family confirmed that he died on Sunday, according to ABC13.
Ezra fell off his father’s shoulder after his father lost consciousness from the pressure of the shock as the rapper stepped onto the stage.
The boy was then trampled to the ground by panicked fans during the chaos, his family said.
“The Blount family is tonight deeply saddened by the incomprehensible loss of their precious young son,” said Blount’s family attorney.
“This was not the result of taking their son to a concert, what should have been a joyful celebration. Ezra’s death was absolutely heartbreaking.
“We are committed to finding answers and justice for the Blount family. But tonight we stand in solidarity with the family, in grief and in prayer.”
Ezra’s family filed a negligence lawsuit against Live Nation concert organizer and Travis Scott, blaming them for the boy’s catastrophic injuries.
According to the lawsuit, filed by prominent civil rights lawyer Ben Crump, Ezra was “suddenly forced to witness in horror as several concertgoers were injured and killed” in the incident. crowd growth.
Crump said Ezra was “kicked, stepped on and trampled on” as bystanders were lifting “the unconscious bodies of friends and strangers and gliding through the crowd, hoping to bring them to safety.”
Ezra’s father, Treston Blount, told ABC that the boy was a fan of Scott and was “caught in the act” at the event.
Ezra’s aunt, Taylor Gabrielle Blount said before The Sun boy had brain swelling and his organs were damaged.
“We were told he wouldn’t be alive, but it’s been three days so we’re praying he’ll make it. He’s a fighter,” she said at the time.
Taylor recounted the horror her brother Treston went through after waking up only to find her son had disappeared while he was unconscious.
Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner reacted to Ezra’s death on Twitter.
He said: “I am deeply saddened to hear of Ezra’s passing this evening. Our city is praying tonight for his mother, father, grandparents, other family members and classmates on this day. this time.
“They will need all of our support in the months and years to come. May God give them strength. RIP Ezra.”
With Ezra gone, Astroworld’s death toll is now 10.
Bharti Shahani, 22, also died of her injuries days after the concert.
