On December 11, as the family set out on a Catholic pilgrimage, witnesses reported that the boy decided to suddenly stick his head out of the window.
The vehicle then pulled closer to the curb and the child’s head was struck by a street lamp pole.
The boy reportedly died at the scene and when Red Cross paramedics rushed to the rescue they could only confirm his death.
The driver then fled before the police arrived.
When the public broke the news of the bus tragedy, social media users wasted no time in blaming the child’s parents and criticizing them for not stopping their son.
Facebook user Sonia Rodriguez commented, “My parents always taught me never to stick my head out of a car window.”
Another user named Acor M Msilla said: “I remember what they used to tell us when we were kids. Don’t stick your head out the car window. Poor little creature.”
A third, Carmen Cunurana Ale, replied: “Therefore, parents should always teach their children not to stick their heads out when traveling on the bus.”
It is not known whether the police are looking for the missing driver.
