BOURNEMOUTH have completed the £10m signing of Marcus Tavernier from Middlesbrough.
The 23-year-old midfielder has signed a five-year deal with Scott Parker’s newly promoted Premier League side.
Tavernier said: “I’m glad to be here, it’s been a long time coming.
“I’m sure everyone in the press saw there was something going on in the background and I’m just happy to be here now.”
Bournemouth CEO Neill Blake said: “We are delighted to have Marcus on board.
“He was one of the standout players in the league last season and will fit well into our squad.
“He has a great pedigree, tremendous energy and is a versatile young player who can play in different positions.”
The cherries have had a quiet summer so far with only three additions.
Former West Ham right-back Ryan Fredericks and former Blackburn midfielder Joe Rothwell have come through the door on free transfers ahead of Tavernier’s arrival.
The ace had just two years left on his contract at Riverside but he and his agents opted to make the move to Bournemouth last week.

Boro offered Tavernier a new contract but the former England Under-20 international turned it down in favor of promotion to the top flight.
A product of Boros’ academy, Tavernier has played 155 games after making his debut against Scunthorpe United in the Carabao Cup in August 2017.
He scored the first of his 18 goals a few weeks later in the same competition against Bournemouth.
