A BOSS who encourages colleagues to rat on each other to eat at work has divided opinions.
The brazen sign is offering a £15 reward to anyone who rats out their hungry teammates – and promises to punish the offenders.
A picture of the note hanging in a restaurant’s kitchen was posted to Reddit in March with the caption, “Eat and get fired. Snitches get $20.”
It reads: “Warning! All employees are not allowed to eat during working hours! Get a $20 reward if you catch an employee eating during work hours!
“Employees with 3 warnings are fired without exception.”
Some social media users were stunned when an employer offered a cash incentive to those who turned on their colleagues.
One person said, “Even from a purely business-oriented standpoint that ignores how sh*** the way people are treated, this is a HORRIBLE idea.”
One person thought they figured out the tactic, writing, “We must keep fighting each other not to fight them.”
Another offered a helpful solution: “Everyone should band together and keep reporting the manager.”
Someone else suggested another way to solve the problem: “They should all rat each other out making 20 have a drink.”
One person said the boss should be careful because some people need to eat during the day.
They wrote: “Try this with a diabetic employee and prepare for the effects. The lawsuit won’t be pretty, but it will set the employee up for a nice payout.”
It comes as another boss sparked outrage after posting a sign next to a minion character telling employees “work shouldn’t be fun”.
The tongue-in-cheek poster received a cold reception on the social blogging forum Reddit.
The poster read: “I came into work this morning and found this taped to the wall.
“Yesterday the boss scolded me and a colleague because we talked to each other in the store without customers.”
Meanwhile, another boss has been snubbed online after asking staff to clock out for toilet breaks and discuss “personal requests”.
The incredible list of rules at a vegan bakery in Bend, Oregon, was taped to the door in the form of a passive-aggressive note.
