Experts reveal masterminds working in an old St. Petersburg factory to manipulate public opinion about the illegitimate war in Ukraine.

Her supporters target senior UK ministers, whom she spams with pro-Putin and pro-war messages in the comments sections of social media platforms.

Secretary of State Liz Truss said: “We cannot allow the Kremlin and its shady troll farms to invade our online spaces with their lies about Putin’s illegal war.

“The UK government has alerted international partners and will continue to work closely with allies and media platforms to undermine Russian information operations.”

Activity was detected on Twitter, Facebook, Telegram, Instagram, YouTube and TikTok. Influencers on TikTok are paid to amplify propaganda.

The tactics are similar to those employed by the terrorist group ISIS and political conspirators QAnon in a large-scale attempt to sway public opinion.

The Prime Minister was also targeted, as was Defense Secretary Ben Wallace and German leader Olaf Scholz. Trolls use the comment sections, making them harder for social media companies to detect.

Activity has been spotted in Western media in 13 countries, with Telegram channel Cyber Front Z playing a major role, UK-funded expert research shows.

The movement is believed to consist of a core of professional trolls followed by a larger number of sympathizer accounts.

Culture Minister Nadine Dorries said last night: “These are insidious attempts by Putin and his propaganda machine to deceive the world about the brutality he is inflicting on the Ukrainian people.

“This evidence will help us more effectively identify and remove Russian disinformation, and follows our determined actions to prevent anyone from doing business with Kremlin-controlled outlets RT and Sputnik.”
