Quantily people who were taken to the hospital with Covid in London – ground zero Omicron – also fell.

And the number of people infected with the virus and being ventilated in UK hospitals also fell for a second day.

Hopes are growing inside Downing Street that all Plan B curbside will be phased out at the end of the month and Britain can get back on track to return to normal.

All holiday tests are also expected to be rescheduled to the end of the month to give a big boost to sunshine-hungry Britons, The Sun has learned.

Eager Tory MPs called on Mr Johnson to go further and become the first world leader to remove all Covid legal restrictions.

The Prime Minister said Britain had been battered by “wave after wave” of Covid but that the NHS had done an “extraordinary job” to combat it.

Speaking during a trip to a vaccine center in Northampton, he said in an upbeat tone: “We will weather the wave. Omicron“.

It comes as new NHS data shows London Covid’s hospitalization rate fell from 4,074 on Wednesday to 4,053 yesterday.

The number of people in the UK on ventilators because of Covid also decreased from 769 people to 762 people.

UK Covid cases dropped from 194,747 to 17,756. Again, this is the second day of their run that they’ve fallen for.

Experts say that although Omicron is infecting a lot of Britons, it will not go to hospitals as much.

Dr Claire Steves, who works on the ZOE Covid Research App, said those who haven’t had a vaccine or booster are most likely to end up in the ward.

She said: “Omicron appears to be more successful in infecting previously vaccinated people but fortunately not necessarily requiring hospitalization.

“So if you’ve only had two doses of the vaccine so far and are eligible for a third, please book now.”

Tory MPs urged Mr Johnson to embrace the initiative and set a new date of freedom when all legal limits of Covid would fall – including self-isolation legislation.

Instead, we should learn to live with the coronavirus like we have the flu and be guided, not threatened with arrest, they said.

A newly formed Tory MP told The Daily Telegraph that the Prime Minister “could be the first Western leader to lift restrictions”.

Meanwhile, Mark Harper, Chair of the Tory MPs’ Covid Recovery Team, said: “We need to ‘learn to live with it day by day’.”

He added: “We’re in the third year of this coronavirus – we’ve got 2020 and 2021 and we’re still talking about the NHS being in a ‘battle’ state. It’s not sustainable and the public is moving in our direction on this.

“We’ll have to say – perhaps January 26 when the current Plan B expires – we’ll treat Covid like the flu; If you are sick and have symptoms, we recommend that you stay home. But all legal restrictions are gone.”

In a big hint that he is preparing to ditch Plan B at the end of the month, the Prime Minister told MPs on Wednesday that he thinks “life will soon return to something much closer to normal”. “.

But Downing Street insiders say it’s too early to talk of a new free day when all legal restrictions end.

The number of people infected with the virus and being ventilated in UK hospitals also fell for the second day after the successful flight.
