Boris Johnson praises the Queen’s ‘leadership and wisdom’ ahead of the Platinum Jubilee

BORIS Johnson has paid a glowing tribute to the Queen, praising her “guidance and wisdom” over 70 years.

The PM said this week’s platinum anniversary will mark her “exemplary service” as monarch.

And he said it was a moment for the country to celebrate the institution of the crown and the “extraordinary person” who wears it.

The Prime Minister added: “She has guided this country through good times and bad, inspiring people to serve others and their communities to create the pride and loyalty that unites us all.

“And their distinguished service extends far beyond these shores.

“She has advised more than 170 heads of government and performed more than 21,000 official engagements in well over a hundred countries.”

Mr Johnson said the monarch has led the country from “strength to strength” under her “steady leadership” since becoming queen.

He added: “She simply embodies in an unprecedented way the idea of ​​what a constitutional monarchy should be.”

In a poignant tribute, the Prime Minister added: “On behalf of the whole nation, Vivat Regina Elizabetha! God save Queen Elizabeth.”
