BORIS Johnson will hand over Stormer anti-tank rocket launchers to Ukraine to send mad Vlad Putin’s army to hell.
Its 17 Starstreak missiles can attack low-flying jets and helicopters.
Experts praised it as “the best kit” that has been shipped to date any western power.
Sources say that two weeks ago the Ministry of Defense showed Ukrainians Stormers’ bat at an exhibition on Salisbury Plains.
The 13-ton, high-tech launch vehicles can be loaded onto C-17 transport aircraft and flown to war in a matter of days.
You only need a crew of three – a driver, a commander and a gunner.
And they will allow it The army of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to dash into positions at 80km/h, fire, and then quickly get away.
The deployment of “a handful of Stormers” alongside 120 already committed personnel carriers marks a significant increase in heavy weapons from Britain.
So far, the western powers have only provided weapons carried on the shoulder.
A source said: “It’s no secret that Britain has pledged to help Ukraine with its air defense capabilities.
“The Secretary of Defense (Ben Wallace) is due to make a statement before Parliament this week.”
Colonel Richard Kemp, former commander of British forces in Afghanistan, said: “The Stormer/Starstreak combination will greatly enhance Ukraine’s combat capability.
“It’s an extremely effective, highly mobile combat vehicle that will deal heavy damage to any attempt at a low-level attack Putin’s Air force.”
But he warned: “This news will anger Moscow, which is already threatening retaliation against the West – especially Britain – over arms shipments.
“If Putin doesn’t want to start a war with NATO, he can’t attack stockpiles of weapons before they get to Ukraine.
“However, he could carry out cyberattacks, sabotage, assassination or any other covert attack that his intelligence agencies have a proven track record of, including in the UK.”
and dr Alan Mendoza of the Henry Jackson Society security think tank said: “These vehicles are the best kit yet sent to Ukraine and will make Russian pilots tremble.
“Britain warns Putin that Russian aggression, war crimes and missile attacks will no longer be tolerated. Britain should wear Putin’s inevitable angry and over-the-top response to this as a show of pride.”
Defense analyst Nicholas Drummond said the Stormers’ low ground pressure makes them ideal for crossing wet ground in Ukraine this month and next.
The Army’s 7th Air Defense Group recently unveiled the missile systems in Poland.
Bombardier Robin Hearn, commander of the Stormer unit, told Forces News: “It’s easy to drive and easy to command.
“And if you have a decent crew, it takes about a minute to deploy the weapon system.”
Mr Johnson will take part in talks with Western leaders, the EU and NATO today.
Sources say they will discuss plans to increase deliveries of defense weapons and impose more sanctions on Putin’s cronies.
It follows talks last week where Britain and the US agreed on the urgent need to develop a longer-term security strategy for Ukraine.
