All three were transported to the hospital. One died from his injuries, confirmed Kuriger.

One of the victims is in mortal danger, the other suffers life-threatening injuries.

Two other victims were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

All five victims were teenagers, Kuriger said.

Police have not yet taken a suspect into custody.

Kuriger urged anyone with information to come forward and contact the Louisville Metro Police Department at 574-LMPD (5673).

He also urged parents to supervise their children on weekends.

“Parents, please, on the weekends… we ask you all to step up.

“We need supervision down here.

“Please know where your children are. You know what they do.

“Be down here with them so we can stop this violence.

“This is a family space and we want it to remain a family space.”

Kuriger reiterated that Louisville’s parks are safe and that residents should not be discouraged from visiting.

He also said they will increase police presence at parks in the area.

“We want people to come down and enjoy the park,” he said.

The Big Four Bridge is located in downtown Louisville.

The shooting happened just hours after children and youth gathered outside Metro Hall for a March for Our Lives demonstration.
