Beef explained by Richard Belzer and Hulk Hogan

How did Richard Belzer and Hulk Hogan’s beef come about?
Belzer teased Hogan a bit, implying that wrestling wasn’t real.
He told him to put it in “one of his trains”.
Hogan initially refused, citing hard ground and saying he didn’t want to hurt Belzer.
But then Belzer continued his taunting, which apparently got Hogan more excited to show the audience what he was capable of.

He brought Belzer into a front chin lock, and Belzer passed out in his grip.
Hogan then dropped Belzer to the ground and kicked away from him, eventually waking up a few seconds later after Hogan punched him in the face a few times.
The drip was enough to collect serious blood around Belzer’s head, and he later had to have more than 100 stitches.
But it was Belzer suing Hogan, Mr. T., WWE and Vince McMahon (WWE’s majority owner) that caused the beef to start.
How much money did Richard Belzer sue Hulk Hogan and the others for?
While Belzer was allegedly suing for $5 million, he and the company (WWE) settled in 1989 for an undisclosed amount.
Belzer’s wife, Harlee McBride, also happened to fall in love with a house in the French countryside.
The money reportedly went to the couple’s new French home, which was jokingly named Chez Hogan (meaning The House of Hogan in English).
Friends of the couple reportedly called it “Hulk Hogan Arms.”
It was in this house in France that Belzer died on February 19, 2023.

What was Richard Belzer’s net worth?
According to Celebrity Net Worth, Richard Belzer had a net worth of around $16 million at the time of his death.
According to the website, Hulk Hogan’s net worth is currently $25 million.
The feud is speculated to have given Hogan the boost he needed in the public eye to propel Wrestlemania to the forefront of televised spectacles.
It didn’t hurt Belzer’s career either, as he has appeared as Detective Munch on several different shows, including Law & Order: SVU.
