Batman’s mass run time could be even longer

According to The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat-Vision Newsletter, the studio tested a four-hour montage of “Batman”. Obviously, Matt Reeves has a huge story to tell in this dirty, new Gotham. The newsletter doesn’t reveal what other test audiences are shown in the expansion, but perhaps it sheds more light on Reeves’ vision for Gotham and its inhabitants. It is also entirely possible that Warner Bros. It was never intended to release a four-hour cut to a general audience, and the screening was a way to gauge the general consensus on the director’s vision.

Hopefully the director has found a good way to cut the movie down to the current two hours and 55 minutes. Reeves recently Twitter to explain that he had completed “quality control” on the film, as well as praising Dolby Vision and Dolby Sound for what they added there. Whatever the outcome, now that fans know that there’s a 4-hour cut, it probably won’t be long until they start campaigning for a “Reeves cut” release.

Thankfully it doesn’t take long for audiences to dive into this new Gotham, as “Batman” hits theaters on March 4, 2022.
