Barcelona have the power to ‘unilaterally terminate’ Gerard Pique’s contract despite the club legend taking a HUGE pay cut to stay

GERARD PIQUE could reportedly end his contract with Barcelona at the end of the season.
Last month, the 35-year-old Spaniard took a significant pay cut to help the club secure a deal SEVEN Players they had trouble registering with.

The reason for this was Barcelona’s crippling financial crisis.
It was reported back in July that manager Xavi told his former teammate Pique that it would be best for him to leave.
Pique wanted to stay and help the team, so he took a massive pay cut instead.
There were even rumors he was willing to play for free before LaLiga insisted it wasn’t allowed.
And now reports claim he could be shown the exit door at the end of the campaign without further ado.

According to Sport, they can terminate his contract in the summer if Pique doesn’t play more than 35 percent of Barcelona’s games.
The eight-time Spanish champions and three-time Champions League winner have a contract at the Nou Camp until 2024.
But that will reportedly end 12 months early if his playing time is kept to a minimum until the end of the season.
Pique has played for Barcelona more than 600 times and won a remarkable 30 trophies during his time there.
But he’s now way down the pecking order of centre-backs in the Catalans’ squad.
Jules Kounde, Ronald Araujo, Andreas Christensen and Eric Garcia are all ahead of him alongside Xavi.
Barca have started the season in good form, winning four out of five games and scoring 16 goals.
But Pique only played 45 minutes in total – which happened in the first half of the Champions League opener against Viktoria Pilsen.
He was replaced by Sergi Roberto at half-time.
