Barber says Elvis Presley’s look-alike performance changed his life and is now touring worldwide as The King

BARBER Gordon Hendricks and doctor Andrew Mason may seem unlikely that Elvis is playing – but both agree that becoming The King was life-changing.

The pair have years of experience in the famous white jumpsuit.

In the final week of our competition to find the ultimate Elvis fan or tribute artist, both mega fans were invited to enter.

Snipper Gordon, who is too busy to cut hair at festivals and on tour and has put his barber shop in the hands of his son, says: “The love that people have for Elvis, whether he’s aged three or 73 years is incredible.

“Following in his footsteps makes you feel like the king.”

And although GP Andrew, 74, now retired, hung up his blue suede shoes after a notable millennium gig, he says: “I would encourage people to give it a try. I had so much fun.”

Gordon from Stoke-on-Trent made Elvis famous through the ITV talent show Stars In Their Eyes in 2005.

He began touring, performing across the UK, Australia and the US.

Married father of five says: I travel the world doing a job I love. I have a huge fan base and a garage full of memorabilia that people send me.

Andrew’s daughters, triplets Faith, Jemma and Clare, 48, were backing singers for him.

The married father of four from Norton, Suffolk, who also has a son, says: “We were Elvis and the Masonettes.”

He says: “I think I was the only GP that was an Elvis act. I once dyed my hair black like his. Patients wondered what was going on.”

Andrew has also volunteered as a front line emergency doctor for the Suffolk Accident Rescue Service.

He is on call 365 nights a year and has handled more than 2,000 incidents since 1974.

He made one more appearance during the pandemic and says, “I’ve been called the king of vaccinators.”
