Balogun impressed when Arsenal U23 lost – Arseblog News

Arsenal U23 players took part in an exciting match with Derby County at Meadow Park last night.

The Young Gunners ended up losing 5-3 as a defense with several out-of-place players was ripped apart by Derby.

One positive that emerged during the proceedings was Folarin Balogun’s performance, with the in-form striker continuing to impress as he scored a hat-trick.

Balogun’s third goal was of an exceptionally high standard as he demonstrated his superb control of the press before a superb finish.

The upper-class striker is clearly playing at the U23 level and really needs to try his hand at the senior in the near future.

As alluded to, Arsenal are once again vulnerable in defence, with manager Kevin Betsy’s pick decisions not helping.

Omar Rekik and Joel Lopez, two players who play an important role in the team’s play, are both absent due to injury.

Betsy has placed James Olayinka, who is usually a midfielder, at right-back, while Ryan Alebiosu (full-back) is used at center back in a three-man defence. Oddly enough, winger Kido Taylor-Hart played at left-back despite never having had a particularly strong defence.

Arsenal improved slightly after Tim Akinola and Henry Jeffcott were brought on midway through the second half but the damage was done.
