A BAKER got incredibly lucky – when she stumbled over a 9-inch lemon that was bigger than her baby’s head.
Mom-of-three Tammy Warren, 38, spotted the 4-pound lemon whopper at a fruit and veg stand.
She bought it for fiver and plans to make some extra refreshing drizzle cakes with it — and “lots of gin and tonic.”
Getting more and more lyrical, Tammy said: “That’s the biggest lemon I’ve ever seen in my life, I thought it would make a great cake.
“It’s bigger than [my baby] Sebastian’s head.
“In that case, when life gives you lemons, I’ll make some lemon cakes, try limoncello, candied lemon zest, and loads of gin and tonics.”
She spotted the zesty monster, which was 17 times its normal size, while out with her family at Lackham Farm in Chippenham, Wilts.
It was grown from the same tree that produced a world record size lemon in 1989 weighing 10 pounds and measuring 31.5 inches in circumference.
Tammy, who lives in nearby Colerne, said: “It smells delicious.
“After holding it, your hands smell nice afterwards.
“We will keep the seeds and grow our own.”
The fruit was picked from the tree in the grounds of the Wiltshire College & University Center campus in Lackham.
A spokesman said it “is pleased that its oversized lemons are still as popular and sought after as ever.
